One of the many people who lauded her was none other than her twin sister, Dr. Shyna Sunsara who watched Sofia with pride when she represented the nation.
According to reports in the Hindustan Times, Shyna Sunsara opened up about her and her twin sister’s journey. She revealed that Colonel Sofia grew up in a military family and was always inspired to join forces, even when women were not allowed in the army. Sofia was dedicated to serving the country and often spoke about becoming a scientist through the DRDO, and if not that, then she was prepared to join the police force.
Reportedly, Shyna revealed that she came to know about the press briefing through one of her relatives phone call, who guided her to switch on the TV. She said watching her sister live on national television became a deeply emotional moment. Not just the family but the entire nation was proud of Colonel Sofia and the Indian forces. She also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a strong response.
Colonel Sofia and her family have deep roots in the Indian military and patriotic legacy. As per reports, Shyna revealed that their father served Indian Army in the 1971 Bangladesh war. Their uncle was part of the Border Security Force, and their great-grandfather had fought in the British Army. Watching her sister briefing Operation Sindoor, Shyna said that it felt like she was witnessing the spirit of Jhansi Ki Rani come alive.

In a recent interview with Radio City, Shyna recalled her childhood dreams. She revealed that she was known as an all-rounder even as a child; she had a deep passion for fashion. Talking about one such incident, she revealed how she cut down her mother’s saree to design a dress.
