Met Gala 2025: Kiara Advani makes a stunning appearance in Black dandyism with a desi twist, nailing the ‘Tailored for You’ theme. Kiara becomes one of the few Bollywood actresses to walk the Met Gala's legendary red carpet. Kiara looks mesmerizingly gorgeous as she walks the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Kiara proudly showcased her baby bump in a beautiful black gown designed by Gaurav Gupta, who has established himself as a globally renowned designer, known for dressing international stars, including Beyoncé, Mindy Kaling, Ashley Park, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, among others.
Kiara arrived in New York City a day before the Met Gala, accompanied by her husband Sidharth Malhotra. Talking about her look, a tribute to motherhood, and the theme of the event, Kiara said, “Making my Met Gala debut at this point in my life, as both an artist and mother-to-be feels incredibly special. When my stylist, Anaita, approached Gaurav to design my look, he created ‘Bravehearts’, a vision that honours the transformative phase I’m stepping into connecting it beautifully to this year’s dress code ‘Tailored for You.’ Inspired by the legacy of André Leon Talley, we reflected on what it means to show up with intention, individuality, and strength. This is a silent tribute to that — it’s a reminder that everything we do paves the way for the next generation.”

Her ensemble, titled Bravehearts, was more than fashion—it was a tribute to femininity, lineage, and transformation. Crafted with sculptural precision, the gown featured an antique gold breastplate adorned with ghungroos and crystals. Two symbolic forms—Mother Heart and Baby Heart—were linked by a chain umbilical cord, visually narrating the bond of motherhood.
The look also paid homage to the late André Leon Talley, legendary fashion editor and Black icon, through a dramatic double-panelled cape—a nod to his iconic silhouettes and influence on the fashion world.
Gaurav Gupta is an accomplished designer who is known for his exceptional skills in the field of design. The celebrated Indian designer refines the skill of sculptural detailing and turns pastel tones into couture laced with celestial storytelling. Designing for Kiara, who is expecting her first baby with Sidharth Malhotra, was a new challenge, but Gaurav's creations, such as the Sculpted Long Trail Saree Gown, highlight his skill. Kiara is not just the only Indian celebrity dazzling the Met stairs with her look, she is walking alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Diljit Dosanjh, who are also making their Met debut. Also, Priyanka Chopra slays the red carpet with her husband Nick.
As per Gaurav, the starting point of the gown was based on Kiara’s pregnancy. Both the designer and the actress were clear about flaunting the baby bump as it feels bold and celebratory, and it is uncommon for pregnant celebrities to attend the Met Gala, especially representing indian fashion. Talking about the same Gaurav said, “I’ve also always been in love with André Leon Talley, and his magnanimity, style, grace and love that just comes through his pictures and interviews. That just envelops fashion in so many ways.”
Kiara’s dress is called Braveheart to convey the heroism of the original Black dandies. The beautiful black dress has a large gold metallic heart on the chest, connected to a smaller gold heart on her stomach via an umbilical cord design.
