Border 2 to revive Sonu Nigam and Roopkumar Rathod's iconic song ‘Sandese Aate Hain’
Sunny Deol's iconic film 'Border' is getting a sequel, 'Border 2', featuring new cast members like Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. The film will also revive the popular song 'Sandese Aate Hai', rebranded as 'Sandese Aate Hai 2.0' with vocals by Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh.
Border Set to Make a Comeback
After almost three decades of echoing in the memories of patriots all over the nation, the famous Sunny Deol movie ‘Border 2’ will reportedly hit theatres in 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh, it will release on January 23.
Border 2 Cast
Just like the first part, the film will feature Sunny Deol and introduce some new cast members, including Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in this action-drama film. It serves as a sequel to Border which was filmed against the background of 1971 India-Pak War.
Sandese aate hai
With Border 2, the film will bring back nostalgia, and re-introduces its popular song ‘Sandese Aate Hai’. The original song was sung by Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar and music by Anu Malik
Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh to Collaborate
The song will be rebranded as ‘Sandese Aate Hai 2.0’ and will have vocals from two mega star vocalists of Bollywood, Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh. Bhushan Kumar , JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta have also acquired the rights to the original ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ song.
Sources Reveal Information
A source said, “Sandese Aate Hai is the soul of Border, and the producers have left no stone unturned to get the rights for a record sum. It's among the highest price that a producer has spent to recreate a melody.”

The source further reveals that the updated song ‘Sandese Aate Hai 2.0’ will be similar to its preceding song in the first part of the movie, portraying themes of hardship, patriotism, and emotional struggles faced by the Indian Army.
Border 2 Shooting Schedule
The filming of Border 2 is in full swing with the production team aiming to wrap up all the shooting by the middle of August 2025.
Border 2 Release Date
While the production is well underway, the makers aim at releasing the movie by 23rd January 2026. Flexing a thoughtful cast, the return of legendary music, and elevated storytelling goals, Border 2 has been promised to be more than just a sequel.
