Kangana was born into a Rajput family in Bhambhala, Himachal Pradesh. Her father's name is Amardeep Ranaut and mother's name is Asha Ranaut. Shee also has an elder sister named Rangoli and a younger brother named Akshat. She has also received the National Film Award three times and the Filmfare Award four times. She is one of the leading actresses of India. Kangana is recognized as the highest paid actress in Indian cinema. She has got a place in the list of Top 100 Celebrities of Forbes India five times. She also came to be called the queen of Bollywood for her strong acting in the film 'Queen' released in 2014. Kangana has been awarded the 67th National Award for Best Actress for the year 2019, for her films Manikarnika and Panga.

Kangana's completed her schooling from D.A. V. School was from Chandigarh. Her family wanted to send her to the medical profession but she moved to Delhi at the age of 16 and joined a theater group here. She came into contact with film producer Mahesh Bhatt during her early days of conflict, which led to her playing the lead role in Anurag Basu's romantic thriller Gangster. Shee took full advantage of this opportunity and with this film she made a good impression among the audience. her performance in this film was highly appreciated and Kangana also received the year's Best Female Debut Award for this film.
