However, they have been going through a tough time. We are talking about Lyca Productions, founded in 2014 by Subaskaran Allirajah.
They have produced films in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. The most expensive movies include Ponniyin Selvan, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film was released in two parts and has Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Lyca productions has completed 10 years and they have bankrolled many big budget films. In 2014 the journey began with Kaithi. The film was a huge hit and got good money.
In 2018, they produced films like Vada Chennai and Ippadai Vellum which became big hits. Rajinikanth’s 2.0 directed by Shankar released in 2018 became the highest-grossing Tamil film ever, earning Rs 700 crore worldwide.
Later they produced Darbar and even entered Bollywood with Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu. They produced around 43 films in just 10 years. But in 2023, the downfall started.
Many of the films they produced flopped and they suffered losses. In a year, they faced 5 failures. Kangana Ranaut-Raghava Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2, Lal Salaam, Indian 2, Vettaiyan and Vidaamuyarchi failed back to back. The production house was on the verge of shutting.
