The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has shut the death case of popular Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, giving a clean chit to Rhea Chakraborty, one of suspects in the case.
Popular Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020 six days after his PR fell from the 14th floor. The death of the actor raised multiple probes. Family and friends were suspicious about the death of Rajput to be a planned murder.
The heart-wrenching news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death raised multiple probes in the matter. Along with family and friends, fans were also demanding justice for their favorite star. The matter went viral to the extent that the death case was handed over to the CBI.
Reportedly, after four-and-a-half years of investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, the CBI has reached the conclusion of shutting the case. It has also given a clean chit to actress Rhea Chakraborty.
According to the reports, the investigating agencies have filed closure in two of the cases it was probing. The one was filed in August 2021 in Patna by Sushant’s father against Rhea, her family and others. The second was filed against Sushant’s sister and doctor by Rhea in September.
According to sources, the closure report in both the cases was filed in the special Mumbai court. Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said, “Rhea Chakraborty has to undergo untold miseries and was behind bars for 27 days for no fault of hers until Justice Sarang V Kotwal released her on bail. “
He further added, “I salute her and her family for having kept silent and yet suffered the inhuman treatment they were meted out. Innocent people were hounded and paraded before the media and investigation authorities. I hope this does not repeat in any case.”
In the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput, Mumbai Police investigated the case at first and suspected the case to be suicide. However, no suicide note had been found. As per the post-mortem reports, the cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging.
