The King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most successful film stars in the world. He is known for his charisma and has appeared in more than 100 films and has been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India, as well as the Order of Arts and Letters and Legion of Honour by the Government of France.

The megastar has opened up about why he hadn’t visited Kashmir, specifically Pahalgam and the Valley, until much later in his life. However, the actor has explored several parts of the world, including Istanbul and Italy.

However, the actor’s visit to Kashmir came only in 2012 during the shoot of Yash Chopra’s romantic epic 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan.' In an episode of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', where Shah Rukh joined Amitabh Bachchan to promote the film.

Shah Rukh Khan shared a poignant memory, recalling a wish his late father had made when he was just 15, a promise that stayed with him forever. He said, My father’s mother was Kashmiri. Even if I see the first two without him, I must not see Kashmir without him.

Despite having many chances to visit Kashmir, SRK held back. “Bahut saare mauke mile... friends called me, family went for vacations, but I never went to Kashmir because of what my father had said.” He had told me, Kashmir main dikhaunga”.

Shah Rukh Khan finally visited Kashmir when he worked on Yash Chopra's film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', with Chopra, whom he regarded as a father figure, taking him there. After the visit, he shared a touching message on Twitter: “My father's one unfulfilled wish was to bring me to Kashmir... now I am here, it feels like I am in his big, strong arms.”

Although Shah Rukh Khan had filmed in Ladakh for 'Dil Se' in the 1990s, he hadn't visited the Kashmir Valley until 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'. He returned to Kashmir in April 2023 for 'Dunki', filming scenes in Sonamarg with Taapsee Pannu.

Shah Rukh Khan married Gauri Khan on October 25, 1991 and have long been considered one of Bollywood's most iconic couples. Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in the movie Dunki, which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani, released in 2023.
