The actor we are talking about is none other than Ranbir Kapoor-once referred to as the ‘chocolate boy’ who underwent an exceptionally amazing transformation for Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar.
Ranbir Kapoor was highly praised for his powerful performance in the film Rockstar directed by Imtiaz Ali who is known for creating magic with his movies. However, there are lesser known facts about the popular film, let’s know about them.
The film was shot with an unusual approach. Reportedly, the ending of the film was shot first as the crew of Rockstar wanted to maintain the continuity of the film, focusing on the actor's hairstyle to remain consistent throughout the film.
To fully immerse himself in the role, Ranbir Kapoor also drew inspiration from various musical and cultural influences. He had to transform himself into a rockstar for which he practiced guitar at A.R. Rahman’s studio in Chennai for many days.
The musical romance film was released in 2011. Rockstar starred Nargis Fakhri as the female lead alongside Ranbir. The film performed exceptionally well at the box office, becoming the highest grossing film of that year with a budget of Rs 50 crore and global earning of Rs 110 crore.
Notably, Ranbir Kapoor was not the first choice for the film. Imtiaz first approached Shahid Kapoor to play the part but Shahid turned it down as he was already occupied with another project Jab We Met. Due to the unmatched schedule he said no to the film.
Also, for the part of the lead female heroine, Imtiaz’s first choice was not Nargis. The director was inspired by the performance of Kareena Kapoor in Jab We Met and therefore approached her for the role. However, he couldn’t cast her romantically opposite Ranbir as they are first cousins.
