Ratan Tata was a renowned industrialist, a successful businessman and an inspiration to many. But did you know he was very fond of the movies?
Back in the early 2000s, Ratan Tata invested in a Hindi movie, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan. Despite the high expectations, it flopped badly at the box office.
Ratan Tata was a renowned industrialist, a successful businessman and an inspiration to many. But did you know he was very fond of the movies?
The industrialist had many friends in the film industry. His love for movies was such that he even produced one of the movies. Sadly, it turned out to be a huge box office disaster.
The movie we are talking about is Aetbaar, which was released in 2004. It featured Amitabh Bachchan, John Abraham and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles.
Aetbaar was made on a budget of Rs 9.5 crore and was made under Pooja Bhatt's banner. However, Ratan Tata had funded the movie.
There was high expectation from the film, which was a remake of the Hollywood film Fear (1996). Sadly, it earned only Rs 8 crore and failed to recover its cost.
During the movie's premiere, John Abraham was not allowed entry at the gate, as the security didn't recognise him. It was quite an embarrassing experience for the actor.
After Jism, the audience were looking forward to seeing John and Bipasha's chemistry on screen again. But even that didn't help the movie from becoming a disaster.
The Vikram Bhatt-directed film later found an audience through TV reruns and home video releases and Amitabh Bachchan was praised for his performance. Ratan Tata never produced any movie after Aetbaar.
