Ranveer Singh (born Ranveer Singh Bhavnani) is an indian actor and Bollywood heartthorb. Born in Mumbai, India, Ranveer Singh had always wanted to be an actor since his childhood. However, during his college days he felt that the idea of acting was far-fetched and focused on creative writing. He made his debut under the Yash Raj Films banner with Band Baja Baarat, in which his performance was much appreciated. He then went on to do films like Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Goliyon ki Rasleela – Ram Leela and the most recent Kill/Dil. He is also seen endorsing brands.
Born in Mumbai, he always wanted to become an actor, but during his college days, he felt that acting was far away and he focused on writing. While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, Singh was drawn to acting again and after coming back to India, he started auditioning for the main characters in the Hindi film industry.
In 2010, Singh auditioned for Yash Raj Film Band Baaja Baaraat and was successful in securing the role. The romance comedy was based on wedding planners and Ranveer played the role of Bittu, a traditional Delhi boy. The film's director Manish Sharma sent him on a lunch break at the campus of Delhi University from where he got inspiration for his character. After the release, the band Baja Baaraat proved to be a hit and Ranveer was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best New Male Actor for his role.
