Padmaavat, the Hindi-language historical drama film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is about Queen Padmavati who is happily married to a noble king and lives happily. But, their happiness is cut short when a ruthless sultan named Alauddin Khalji declares war on their kingdom upon hearing about Padmavati’s beauty.
The film had sparked widespread protest and violence as it reportedly distorted historical facts and portrayed the Hindu queen Padmavati in a disrespectful manner. But has won 44 awards in total and earned more than Rs 500 crore.
The film made history in terms of awards and about 7 years ago the film dominated the box office and became one of the most popular films of that year. According to IMDb, won a total of 44 awards.
In the film, Ranveer Singh portrayed the villainous Alauddin Khilji,hahid Kapoor played Maharawal Ratan Singh, and Deepika Padukone as Queen Padmavati. Ranveer Singh won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his role. The director of the film Sanjay Leela Bhansali bagged the National Award for Best Music.
The most interesting part of the film is that both the hero and the heroine die but the villain lives. The total worldwide earnings of the film amounted to 571.98 crores, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 2018.
