Born to Syed Anwar Hashmi, a businessman who acted in the film Baharon Ki Manzil (1968), Emraan Hashmi created a special place for himself in the hearts of the audiences.
He started his career as an assistant director at Raaz. He made his Bollywood debut with Footpath in 2003 which starred Bipasha Basu as the lead actress.
The film did not do well at the box office, but he managed to gain considerable recognition. Hashmi’s major breakthrough came when he starred in Anurag Basu’s Murder alongside Mallika Sherawat and Ashmit Patel.
The film became a blockbuster hit and within no time, Emraan became an overnight sensation. He has been part of films including Gangster, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Murder 2, The Dirty Picture, and Jannat, among others.
He never gave up despite his films becoming flop at the box office. He made a strong comeback and played a villain in Maneesh Sharma’s Tiger 3.
The film also featured Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The film was declared a superhit and it earned Rs 466.63 crore worldwide and became fourth highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023.
Emraan shares close family ties with Alia Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt are his uncles. As per reports, Emraan charges Rs 6 crore per film and his net worth is around Rs 105 crore.
