Sunny Deol, Aamir Khan’s Lahore 1947 to become the biggest box office blockbuster of 2025? [Exclusive Deets]

Lahore 1947 is set for a release around Independence Day 2025 and the film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Ever since it was announced, fans and trade have been eagerly waiting to know more about the project. And why not? It brings Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol together in a film based on an important chapter from India’s history. It is also produced by Aamir, which makes the project even bigger and one to watch out for. And now, we have got some information on our hands which makes us believe that Lahore 1947 will break all the current Hindi films box office records, upon its release in August.

Recently, at the trailer launch of Cinema Ka Jaadugar: The Aamir Khan Film Festival, Javed Akhtar, who has written the songs for the film spoke about Lahore 1947. He has seen the film and expressed his opinion on the same on an open forum. The veteran writer and lyricist has worked with Aamir very closely in the past as well and he predicted that Lahore 1947 will be a huge hit, appealing to both classes and the masses.

The celebrated Javed Akhtar, who has given the Hindi film industry some of the most loved stories and songs, believes that at a time when South Indian cinema has been doing so well, and Hindi filmmakers have been struggling, Lahore 1947 will be the film that will help Bollywood redeem itself.

To know more about the project we decided to dig further and an industry source revealed, “When Aamir Khan is attached to a project as a producer, you can only expect the best. This is a very ambitious film for him, as far as the story goes and he has taken all measures to ensure that it has all the tropes that appeal to the audience of today - be it in single screens or multiplexes.”

The film was shot and completed in August last year with enough time before the release and there is reason for that too. The insider told us that it is to ensure that the film is shown to select groups to gather feedback and make necessary tweaks. “The shoot was wrapped mid-year last year but some bits were reshot till the end of the year. Some of these also starred Sunny Deol,” revealed the source hinting that some tweaks or additions as per feedback may have already happened.
