Kanye West left his fans surprised as he released the much-anticipated album Donda 2 on streaming platforms. He made the project widely available for the first time since its debut in 2022.
Kanye West had initially declared Donda 2 as a follow-up to his 2021 record Donda. For the unversed, he had teased Donda 2 via social media in early 2022.
Kanye West had confirmed rapper Future as the executive producer. But the album had gone past traditional platforms, and launched it exclusively via his Stem Player device.
The current version of Donda 2, which has now been released to various streaming services under the artist name Donda, includes 18 songs. Many of these songs have appeared on the original iteration.
Most of the songs appear to be similar, some with different names, and Future cameos on multiple tracks including Happy and Mr. Miagi. 5:30 - which was included on West’s Vultures 2 album with Ty Dolla Sign, too appears on the tracklist in a shorter version.
Despite the surprise release, Kanye West had hinted during a livestream earlier on Tuesday that the mixes used in the album could be subject to updates in future. He stated that he planned to revisit and refine the sound of several tracks.
Donda 2 is now available on Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube Music. It isn't clear yet if it will also appear on additional platforms.
A week ago, Kanye West had claimed that he had an incestuous relationship with his male cousin during their childhood. In his post, the rapper wrote, “This song is called COUSINS about my cousin that’s locked in jail for life for killing a pregnant lady a few years after I told him we wouldn’t ‘look at dirty magazines together’ anymore.”
Kanye West had recently also made controversial claims about his past relationship with Kim Kardashian in a Twitch livestream which has now been removed. The rapper had also claimed that he should have had kids with Paris Hilton. His comments left many in the entertainment industry shocked.
