Jaat: Sunny Deol wasn't the first choice for the action film? Director reveals...

Sunny Deol has marked his successful return to box office. His film Gadar 2 that released in the year 2023 broke several records with its smashing earnings. Now, fans are going gaga over his recently released movie - Jaat. The film that released on April 10 performed well at the box office. His fans raved about the action sequences in the film and lauded Sunny Deol for his acting chops. Jaat that also stars Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles is directed by Gopichand Malineni. The filmmaker recently spilled beans about the film and revealed that Sunny Deol wasn't the first choice for the film.

As reported by entertainment news portal 123Telugu.com, Gopichand Malineni revealed that he first approached Nandamuri Balakrishna with the script of Jaat. He had even received green signal for it. But post the release of the blockbuster Akhanda, the plans changed. Gopichand Malineni was quoted saying, "After Krack, I approached Balakrishna Garu with the Jaat story and got the green signal, too. But post-Akhanda, Balayya Garu said the expectations had been raised and that a faction backdrop would better meet them. And that’s how Veera Simha Reddy materialized." Veera Simha Reddy released in 2023 and was a commercial success. However, it did not receive great reviews.

Talking about Sunny Deol's Jaat, the movie is still pulling in footfalls even in its third week. As per a report in Sacnilk.com, the movie made around Rs 65 lakhs on day 20. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 86.30 crore. Fans were hoping that Jaat will cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office. However, the target now seems difficult to achieve given that Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 is releasing on May 1. It is already facing tough competition from Akshay Kumar's film Kesari Chapter 2 that released on April 18. Akshay Kumar's film has already crossed the mark of Rs 70 crore in 12 days.
