Bollywood has multiple times paired heroes older than heroines and vice versa, there is nothing new to giving bold scenes by actors in their 50s and 60s. One name includes Bollywood’s superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who gave a kissing scene with a much younger actress.
The actress we are talking about is none other than Rani Mukherji, who is about 36 years younger than Big B. The film was Black, which featured Amitabh opposite Rani. It was directed by Bollywood’s popular director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Amitabh Bachchan went on to get the National Award for the 2005 film Black, while Rani Mukherji went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. In the film, Rani played the character of a deaf and mute person, whereas Amitabh was in the role of her teacher.
Interestingly, Big B didn’t charge any fees for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Black. However, a scene from the film featuring Amitabh and Rani not just shocked audiences but also Amitabh’s family.
It was because Amitabh and Rani performed a liplock scene in the film, and at that time, Rani’s name was linked with Abhishek Bachchan. Not just this, reportedly, there was talk of their marriage in the family.
As per reports in Asianet News, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherji came close during the shooting of their film Yuva. Amitabh Bachchan’s wife, Jaya Bachchan, was also in favor of bringing home a Bengali daughter-in-law.
However, their happy relationship ended after the intimate scene of Abhishek Bachchan’s father and Rani in Black. At that time, Rani was about 36 years younger than Big B.
For the unversed, Kareena Kapoor was cast opposite Amitabh Bachchan, but Mr Bachchan refused to work with Kareena. After which, Rani Mukherji was offered the role.
